Caleb is 4!

4 years ago yesterday we had our third little boy, Caleb Ethan. Die hard KU fans will know that was the day after KU won the National Championship. If Heath would have gotten his way his name would have been Mario. He begged for that but I just couldn't do it. During labor his heart rate plummeted and my blood pressure sky rocketed. Thankfully he was okay and so was I. The doctor told us just after 7pm that it would be several more hours. 45 minutes later the nurses were on stand by to catch Caleb incase he came out before they were ready. He has always done things on his terms and in his own way.

Here he is at 6 months. Still one of my favorite photos of him.
This was 2 weeks after. The doctor made a house call and did Caleb's check up and brought us supper. Looks at those little hands and cute little cheeks!
Caleb has done things differently than his brothers from the get go. He has never liked to cuddle very much so when he wants you, you have to soak it in. From the time he was this little he has loved vehicles. Buses, cars, trains, trucks, etc. We thought he would eventually grow out of it but he hasn't.
Caleb used to jump in this all the time and his brother would put hats on him. He could see them playing and when he got excited he would jump pretty hard!
I miss this little size. But don't worry, there are no more little Franke's coming.
His 1st birthday picture. This seems like just yesterday we were taking these.
He was so excited to go on Noah's field trip, we went to the pumpkin patch. This past fall, he got to go on that very same field trip!
His first real Easter Egg Hunt. After about 10 eggs he was done.
Caleb went through a phase where no one could touch him but mommy and daddy. He screamed when new faces would talk to him. Going to the doctor was such a huge undertaking. I used to work myself up to be strong for him, no crying and be tough. Help him calm down so they could just look at his ears. It was that bad. Staying in a hotel was horrible because it wasn't home and he didn't understand.
Then finally he learned he was safe as long as we were around. He started like the teens in our youth group. The nursery at church became a place he enjoyed. The doctor's office was not so scary and in fact he thinks his doctor is kind of funny.
This was his first day of preschool this year. He started last April just after he turned 3. After numerous appointment at Children's Mercy for his hearing (he never passed from birth) he finally passed and he started recieving services through TARC. Once he turned 3 those services were turned over to the school because they couldn't help him past 3. Both Jonathan and Noah were able to go to the same preschool at SHES and it helped them so much. He shed a few tears on his first day this year but he was a big boy and did okay.
Now he is growing up. He has a relationship with his brothers. Its cute to see them all stick up for each other. Sometimes that means sticking up to the other brother. They are brothers so sometimes they do argue but mostly, the get along and play together.
And this face shows who Caleb has grown to become. A comedian. A silly boy that loves to joke, loves to laugh.
He still loves trains and cars. Thomas and Lightning McQueen and Mater are still his favorite. He is talking more and more. They working to see if his throat closes when he talks because there is so much air coming through his nose but he has come such a long ways and I am looking forward to looking back over the next year and seeing how much further he has progressed.
